Key Features

If you missed the Huawei B618 last year, you’re in luck: the Huawei 5G H112 is a better powerful version in every way. Huawei B618 is with a cube appearance. The 5G CPE Pro keep the design idea and improve it to make it more attractive.
The latest 5G CPE Pro is equipped with the first 5G multimode modem chipset Balong 5000, which supports 5G/4G/3G/2G, though the B618 supports 4G/3G/2G, the 5G CPE Pro supports more 4G bands (B1/3/5/7/8/18/19/20/28/32/34/38/39/40/41/42/43).
Speaking of speed, the 5G CPE Pro is really a great promotion on B618. On Sub-6GHz network, the upper limit for downloading is 4.6Gbps, and the upload speed is up to 2.5Gbps. When on the mmWave network, the maximum download speed is 6.5Gbps, and 3.5Gbps for max upload speed. A 1GB HD video can be downloaded within 3 seconds, and 8K video can be streamed smoothly without lag. The 5G CPE pro has some features other CPE devices are unable to surpass right now. The dual-polarized balun antennas, NSA/SA network mode supporting, dual-band Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 802.11ax) , and etc.

Design

Huawei 5G CPE Pro is a very design device, which I think this is attributed to Huawei’s hard work.
The small “cross-polarized” type antennas of Huawei H112 are all hidden in the body, and the exterior is made of high-quality white ABS free-spraying environment-friendly materials, all these make it a unique charming product. The body adopts the arc chamfer + four-curved design that used on smartphones, gives user a good feeling when picking and placing.
At 107mm×100mm×215mm, the vertical design makes the whole device much smaller. The ancient Greek column slope design, the < 0.1°small angle formed by the top and bottom gives people a beautiful and straight feeling. It seems like a pleasing artwork when placing at the desktop.
The radiating design of the 5G CPE Pro is quite similar with Apple’s previous generation of Mac Pro, and it achieves the same result. The high-conductivity material double heat sink and aerodynamic streamline design make the heat dissipation effect more obvious under the chimney effect, and the cooling efficiency is increased by 30%.
Products in industrial design that fully balance the technology and art are often highly praised. The Huawei 5G CPE Pro router not only fully considers the performance, transmission speed, and stability performance index, but also takes the nice appearance into account. Frankly, as a router which combines the good performance with the impressive style, it’s rare.

Appearance

Most of us may know the Huawei B618 router which is in a Cube style. The Huawei 5G CPE pro is similar with it. In the front, there are three indicators (5G, 4G, and Wi-Fi) and a Hi/WPS button. It provides information about the current status. As it is a multi-mode chipset that supports 4G networks too, it will change into 4G network mode automatically when there is no 5G network around. On the back, there are 2 Ethernet Ports for LAN (One is for LAN & WAN), one Landline phone port, two antenna slots and one power button. The connector type of the antenna is TS-9. At the bottom, there is a SIM slot for insert the Nano SIM data card. Next to the SIM slot you could find a reset button which is easy for you to restore it into factory settings. There is also a hole at the bottom which can help to improve the heat dissipation efficiency by 30 percent and maintain the device’s temperature levels in check.

Performance

The 5G router gives you an ultra-high download speed experience which can deliver speed 7 to 10 times faster than top 4G LTE speeds on the market today. As it is presented at the 2019 MWC, it can cache a 1GB movie in 3 seconds, which is 21 times higher than the current 4G network. The official said that 5G CPE Pro can achieve download speeds up to 4.6 Gbps (theoretically) at Sub-6 GHz low-frequency bands (the main spectrum used for 5G). While on the mmWave spectrum (high-frequency bands used as extended spectrum for 5G), it can achieve download speeds up to 6.5 Gbps. Huawei claims that the actual download speed of HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro on commercial networks reaches up to 3.2Gbps.

Balong 5000 Multi-mode 5G Chipset

The 5G CPE Pro H112 has the Balong 5000 to power, which is the first 5G modem based on 3GPP R15 standard to support both standalone (SA) and non-standalone 5G (NSA) network architectures for 5G. The NSA architecture is built on top of legacy 4G LTE networks, whereas SA has its own independent architecture and it’s the core of future 5G networking. By supporting the dual architecture, this 5G router can adapt to meet different user and carrier requirements throughout different stages of 5G development.

Yet, it is the first TDD/FDD full-spectrum access platform modem that offers 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G connectivity on a single chip (However, the Snapdragon X5 LTE modem cannot support SA and FDD). That is to say, when the 5G signal coverage is not very strong, you can fall back to 4G to ensure network stability, that fundamentally solve the problem of fragmentation of network standards.
What’s more, the equipped Balong 5000 in the H112 is also the first multimode chip in the world to support V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communication, in other words, the router could offers a highly reliable car networking solution with low latency in the future Internet of Vehicles.

New Wi-Fi 6 Technology

The HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro supports Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz, and it is also introduced with new Wi-Fi 6 technology, also known as 802.11ax which is the next generation of IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) standard. It is the successor to the Wi-Fi 5 and operates in the 2.5 GHz and 5 GHz spectrums. It is designed to work with the best speeds in all situations. With it, it gives better data transfer speeds, greater capacity and efficiency for the 5G CPE Pro. It supports WLAN download speeds of up to 4.8Gbps, which is 15 times faster than the 300Mbps of Wi-Fi 4 technology.

It uses the MIMO technology, which transmits over several antennas in variable frequency ranges. Thanks to this, Wi-Fi coverage of the 5G CPE Pro is extended in both vertical and horizontal directions. Then the Wi-Fi signal can be well covered in every corner in your house, not only for large units, but also in duplex rooms.

New Smart Home Experience

HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro supports Huawei SmartHome APP – a smart home interconnection platform that lets you manage Hilink devices between all types of smart devices. Through it, users can connect to the high-speed 5G network with just one click. The dual-polarized balun antennas in the CPE ensure 360° signal coverage. Together with it, users can acquire the best placement position in the home. No matter how you place the CPE, signals will be received successfully. In addition to homes, the HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro can also be used by small and medium enterprises for super-fast and simplified network access.

Huawei has cooperated with more than 200 manufacturers, accessing more than 100 categories and covering more than 500 products. The Huawei 5G H112 is equipped with an IoT channel. When receives the IoT command, it can be directly sent to the router through a dedicated channel. The SmartHome APP can be used to set up and manage the router.

Final Verdict

The 5G CPE Pro is a full-featured router for 5G generation network. It even has more powerful specs than most of its competitors. The 5G CPE Pro should satisfy anyone who wants a high speed performance mobile router. If you’re living in a 5G coverage area, the extra speeds will probably make it worthwhile to upgrade your 3G/4G device to the 5G CPE Pro. Besides this, you’ll also get better Wi-Fi connectivity along with Ethernet ports for your wired devices.
Powered by the latest Balong 5000 chip, that makes the 5G CPE Pro will not be upgraded in the next few years. Though in the future SA architecture 5G generation network, it can easily cope with.
If that’s you, and you’re willing to stomach the high price tag, the CPE won’t disappoint you.
